Sustainable Farming
From Farm Data to Finance to Market: Building Africa’s Farmer Operating System
A farmer rarely has just one problem. Knowing what is wrong with the soil means little if the farmer cannot afford the right inputs. Financing means little without a reliable market. And market access becomes difficult when production data is invisible. That is the problem DigiFarmer is trying to solve. Over the past month, our team—led across product development by Tom Patrick, Lawrence Kawalya and our field teams under Sarah Ongom—has been connecting soil intelligence, input recommendations, financing, payments, suppliers and market access into one ecosystem. Our objective is simple: a farmer should not need five different platforms to manage one farm. DigiFarmer is evolving from an agricultural application into infrastructure—an operating system connecting farmers to the services, capital and markets they need to grow.
